SUMMARY
Sometimes it is not obvious which resources have been allocated by the operating system
for a specific parallel or serial port. This article gives the detailed steps to look up
the resources.

Follow the steps given below to look up resources under
Windows NT:
- Run command WINMSD.
- Select tab Resources.
- Press button Devices.
- Double-click one of the devices Parport for LPT or Serial
for COM.
- Look up the resources which are sorted by port number.
Follow the steps given below to look up resources under
Windows 2000 or
Windows XP:
- Open the Control Panel element System.
- Select tab Hardware.
- Click button Device Manager... to open the Device Manager
- Expand the group Ports (COM & LPT).
- Double-click the desired LPT or COM port.
- Select tab Resources.
- Look up the resources.
